StarCave Portable Telescope and Observatory, Astronomical Tunnle Tents

Shelter Systems' lightweight, portable telescope, astronomical and observatory StarCave, named for its tunnel shape, was designed for astronomers who wish to cover a rectangular space. The StarCave will protect you and your telescope from light, wind and dew. Several StarCaves can be placed end to end to produce a longer enclosure. The StarCaves are freestanding and can be turned or moved easily. They are constructed of our White and Black light-blocking covering. This covering will exclude all light from the interior of the dome except for the opening for your telescope.

Two window flaps with velcro closures are provided for your telescope. The window openings are not cut by us nor are the window flaps installed. This way you can put them where you need them. We provide you with the velcro that is backed with sticky tape and two 3' x 3' window coverings of the White/Black so you can place the windows where you want. You can also buy extra windows at $25 each.

Easy Set Up
Your StarCave telescope and observatory, astronomical tunnle tents arrives with all hubs and clips attached. Just slip the interchangeable poles into the hubs and in 25 minutes your StarCave is complete. It's very easy. Once up, you may lift or turn your StarCave into position. If your StarCave tunnle needs to be transported or stored, it can be disassembled in 5 minutes by removing the poles and rolling it into a compact bundle.

Sturdy Design
We use a very strong woven, laminated ripstop film in all our structures, that has been treated with ultraviolet inhibitors to ensure extra long life. Unique to Shelter Systems structures are the molded Grip Clips at each hub. They are made of an extremely durable plastic. The importance of these components lies in the fact that they grip the film without puncturing it--there are no weak points to tear out in Shelter Systems' structures. The StarCave has two large doors, one on each end.

Proven Performance
The tension achieved by the network of hubs and poles keeps the film stretched tight in the wind, preventing tear through wind vibration. The StarCave's doors have been designed to bypass the need for zippers. We use hook closures. Zippers are notorious for breaking after a short working life. Our experience has shown that, without them, our doors can't malfunction! An added benefit: there is no sill of material spanning the entrance at ground level. This means that when the doors are open, you have complete access for rolling wheeled carts in and out.

Complete Shelter System
The StarCave telescope and observatory tunnle tents comes complete with clips and connectors attached to covering, poles, stakes, and instruction manual that details floors, site selection, anchoring, and winterizing.
